Please use the resources in the fish folder when doing homework, that’s what they are there for! We are working on number order and greater than/less than and using the number line and hundred chart can help your child. Also reference the alphabet when doing spelling homework to see how to correctly print letters.

September 21- September 25

Monday, Sept. 21- No school for students. Teacher technology in-service

Tuesday, Sept. 22- Hot lunch starts!

Wednesday, Sept. 23- K-2 mass at 8:30am and PE day

Thursday, Sept. 24- School picture day! Please dress in full and proper uniform!

Friday, Sept. 25- School spirit day! Students may wear blue and yellow :) Spelling test.


* Important Note*
Any student who has not turned in supplies- including $5.00 and large painting t-shirt- must do so this week! Several permission slips will be going home (family life/photography/Internet), please make sure you sign them and return them to school as soon as possible!

Keep the homework paper in the front of the fish folder so your son/daughter can write down their homework every day!

What is first grade studying?

Language Arts- short a. -an -ap -at. nouns. verbs. predicting. sequencing. classifying. following oral directions. sentences that begin with capitol letter and end with a period.

Religion- ch.1 God Loves Us.

Math- ch.1 Numbers and Patterns. counting numbers to 20. comparing numbers. ordinals.graphs.

Social Studies- ch.1 Rules and Laws.

Science- unit study will begin Oct. 13

Art- following directions. fine motor skills, cutting and coloring.

Music- rescheduled to begin Sept. 24

First Week...

Welcome and thank you for checking in with first grade! I am looking forward to a wonderful school year with a wonderful group a beautiful minds and children :) I can't wait to work with you to help your children succeed and achieve. I will be working on this blog to keep you posted with classroom happenings and reminders to the best of my ability- but please keep on the lookout for information to be sent regularly through our FISH folders.

Reminders:
*Back to School Night is Tuesday, September 15. Plan on being there! Important information will be shared.

*First grade has PE on Wednesdays. PE begins this Wednesday, September 16th. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for PE, including proper sneakers. If you are unsure of the school PE uniform please check with the office.

*We are scheduled to begin music on Thursday, September 17th. Ask your son/daughter about it Thursday evening :)
